Privacy Policy.

This privacy policy is provided in English. Translations are for convenience only; the English version is authoritative in case of any conflict.
TheOnlineCalendar is a free, public-facing reference. This policy explains what data is collected when you visit the site, how it is used, and what choices you have.
Information we collect
TheOnlineCalendar does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal information to use the site. The information processed when you visit consists of: (a) standard server access logs — IP address, user-agent string, request path, referrer, and timestamp — retained briefly for security, abuse prevention, and rate limiting; (b) aggregated, anonymised analytics including page views, country-level traffic, referrer source, and approximate locale, with no individual identifiers attached; and (c) any information you voluntarily share when contacting us, such as your name, email address, and the contents of your message.
We do not collect personal data such as full names, addresses, or payment information through the public pages. We do not run hidden trackers, and we do not buy or sell user data.
How we use information
Information collected through the site is used solely to operate, debug, and improve TheOnlineCalendar. Specifically, server logs help diagnose errors and protect against abuse; aggregated analytics help us understand which countries and pages are most useful to readers, which translations need attention, and where dead links or broken layouts appear; and information you send via email is used to respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, to update the calendar.
We never sell or rent personal data to advertisers, data brokers, or third parties. We do not build behavioural profiles for marketing purposes.
Cookies and similar technologies
TheOnlineCalendar uses a minimal set of functional cookies. The most common is a small preference cookie that remembers your selected language so that you do not have to choose it on every visit. We do not currently set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
If and when display advertising is added in the future, advertising cookies will only be set after you have given consent through a clearly labelled banner, and you will be able to change that choice at any time.
You can clear or block cookies through your browser settings; the site continues to function without them, although your language preference may not persist between visits.
Third-party services
TheOnlineCalendar relies on a small number of third-party services to operate.
Hosting: Vercel processes the technical data necessary to deliver pages to your browser. This includes server access logs (typically retained 30 days). Vercel's privacy practices: https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Analytics: Google Analytics 4 (Measurement ID G-X7TPLLY6PT) is loaded only after you grant consent via the cookie banner. When granted, GA4 sets _ga and _gid cookies (typical retention: _ga 2 years, _gid 24 hours) and sends anonymised pageview pings to Google. When you reject analytics, GA4 falls back to Google's Consent Mode v2 — anonymised cookieless pings only, no _ga cookie. You can revisit your choice via the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer at any time.
Vercel Web Analytics is a privacy-respecting analytics layer that does not use cookies and does not require consent. It collects aggregate pageview counts, country, device type, and referrer, with no user-level identification.
Vercel Speed Insights is a Core Web Vitals collection layer. It samples performance metrics (LCP, INP, CLS) without cookies and without identifying users.
Google Tag Manager is loaded only when GA4 consent is granted and is the delivery mechanism for the GA4 script.
We do not embed social-media widgets, third-party fonts that phone home, or trackers that share data with advertising networks. The site does not currently run advertising. External links you click are governed by the privacy policy of the destination site.
A detailed cookie inventory with purposes and retention periods is available at /cookies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — for example under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), or similar laws — you have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port any personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain types of processing. Because TheOnlineCalendar does not maintain user accounts and does not store identified personal data beyond what you voluntarily send us by email, most rights requests will simply involve us finding and deleting any email correspondence.
To exercise any of these rights, write to the contact address below from the email account you used. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law and will never charge a fee for a routine request.
Data retention and security
Server access logs are kept for a short period (typically up to 30 days) and then deleted. Aggregated analytics are kept for as long as they remain useful for trend analysis. Email correspondence is retained only for as long as is needed to handle your enquiry and any reasonable follow-up; thereafter it is deleted.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data — encrypted transport (HTTPS), access controls on logs, and minimisation of personal data collection. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data exposure as small as possible.
Children
TheOnlineCalendar is a general-audience reference site. It is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in jurisdictions where that is the relevant threshold), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the service, the law, or third-party providers. The "last updated" date at the top of the page will reflect the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage for a reasonable period.
For any privacy-related question or rights request, write to hello@theonlinecalendar.com. We aim to respond within 48 hours on weekdays.
