In 2026, South Korea observes 24 public holidays, beginning with New Year's Day on January 1 and ending with Christmas Day on December 25. These are official days on which government offices, banks, schools, and most businesses are closed.

Holidays here include a mix of fixed dates (such as New Year's Day and national independence days) and variable dates (such as religious holidays that follow lunar or ecclesiastical calendars). Variable holidays may shift by 1–2 days from year to year.

South Korea caps the working week at 52 hours, 40 regular plus 12 overtime, under the 2018 reform. Substitute holidays now apply to most public holidays: when one falls on a weekend, the following Monday is off. Seollal and Chuseok each block out three days and dominate domestic travel.
